Nakayama Yoko (中山 よこ)/Cure Night (キュア ナイト Kyua Naito) is one of the heroines. She, like Kawada Asa, is based upon a character design from a sheet that was passed off as real by an anonymous fan between the time that Fresh Precure! was announced and the revelation of what its heroines really looked like. Her introduction is "In the name of the shadows, I am Cure Night!".
=Info=----

Name Meaning: Nakayama means "inside the mountain"; Yoko is derived from "yoru" for night.
Age: 13
Birthdate: November 3rd
Theme colours: Dark blue, black
First appearance: Legendary Warriors? Sounds Great, But...
=Personality=

Yoko grew up in the city, but a few years before the story, she moved to a house on the northeast edge of the ambitiously-named Kazahana City, which is really nothing more than a town. She lives with her parents and her obnoxious twin brother, Takashi. They are the only ones who know about her secret hobby of working on cars; at her request, since she doesn't want to be made fun of for being boyish or strange, Takashi rather than Yoko takes the credit for any fixing or customization. Takashi likes to tease her about this, even though he hides his own secrets that even she doesn't know.
Yoko attends Clair Academy, but doesn't have many friends at first, since her cool demeanor scares everyone off. She's quite unaware that this is the case and doesn't believe it when she's told that she's intimidating. Her first friend is Okamoto Yukari, who looks proper but is actually quite fun-loving and social, and tends to drag Yoko around to go shopping. Yukari's reaching out to Asa allows her and Yoko to start becoming friends outside of Pretty Cure and school.
Yoko is also quite set on doing things properly. This may come from her upbringing, as it is mentioned that her parents refuse to let her leave the house in clothes that are too casual, like sweatpants or old T-shirts. In her daily life, this is limited to things like telling Asa that her bow is crooked when they first meet, but in her life as a Cure, many things tend to happen to get her attention and send her on long rants and sometimes rampages. She despises destruction of property, for example, and flies into a rage when her enemies break something.

Story[]

Yoko is first seen in the beginning of the first episode, texting Yukari about their history project due the next day. They present without a flaw, but Yoko notices that Kawada Asa, the misfit new girl, has slept through the entire presentation. She's offended, but not very much, as she later approaches Asa at the clock tower to talk about the transformation phone that Asa supposedly dropped in a bush. When Yoko gets home, she finds a similar phone in her own school bag and returns to the clock tower for an explanation. There she sees Asa being attacked by Mekuramast, obtains Moon Piece serial number XIII, and transforms with Asa for the first time.
Yoko begins to meet with Asa after school and investigate places where she suspects that a Moon Piece will be, although she's usually wrong. Yoko also insists upon investigating normal criminals like stalkers and panty thieves. She comes upon the confrontation between Kainatrol and the mysterious woman called "Dawn", and begins to formulate theories as to who the latter might be. She takes Moon Piece serial number V from their classroom and concludes that someone, likely Dawn, planted it there so the Cures would be able to find it.
Later, after Kainatrol uses her mind control powers on Yukari, Yoko ignores Asa to look after her other friend's well-being. Asa confronts her about this and Yoko admits that she considers Yukari a friend and only associates with Asa because of Pretty Cure. After being yelled at by Hoshi and having to work together with Asa to rescue the kidnapped Starry, Yoko becomes Asa's friend. Soon after, the two of them, along with Hoshi, Yukari and Mia, form a separate group of friends within the Lily Class. Omemi Emiru sees this as a threat both to her power over her classmates and her ability to retain friends. She sends Mitsuishi Seira to obtain blackmail on Yoko; however, Seira has a change of heart and makes up a story instead. Unfortunately for all involved, the invented story is that Yoko is Cure Night.
This leaves Yoko on edge and worried that her efforts to keep her image up have put her and her friends in danger. She has a talk with Starry and decides to tell her friends the truth about her hobbies, although they don't fit the false self that she has built. Before she can do that, Emiru becomes Millusion and traps Yoko and Asa in a simulacrum of the school. After getting through that, they face off with Millusion, and Yoko decides to, as Asa would describe it, "friendship-speech" her back to normal. Once they all return to school, Yoko confesses to her friends as planned. What she does not know is that Hoshi, Yukari and Mia now know the identities of Pretty Cure.

Pretty Cure equipment/allies[]

Yoko doesn't have her "own" mascot per se, but her team's mascot is Starry, a small orange creature who ends his sentences with "susu". Starry can enter either of the girls' transformation phones.
Yoko's transformation phone is blue and black. Without a card, it can always track the location of Asa's phone within a wide radius that reaches at least to the borders of the town. It also has various cards that can work in different ways:

  • Moon Card: Allows the girls to transform while holding hands and saying "Dual Infinite Phase!"
  • Scan Card: Can expose a Moon Piece disguised as a regular object.
  • Storage Card: Activates hammerspace. Currently used to hold Moon Pieces.
  • Copy Card: Creates an identical copy of an object.

==Attack Descriptions==

  • Pretty Cure Second Spin: Performed with Cure Sunday. The Cures are surrounded by blue flames and launch into the air, flying at and around their target. Usually breaks through and destroys Hidoinaa, but Kainatrol's shielding ability was able to withstand it.
